Lady Gaga’s Monster push for gays

Pop star Lady Gaga - all business in a dark suit instead of her customary flamboyant outfits - pleaded for an end to the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy in a Maine rally yesterday.

Speaking before a crowd of 2,000, Lady Gaga compared sexual equality and service for one’s country to Grade-A meat.

“Equality is the prime rib of what we stand for as a nation,“ Lady Gaga said. “And I don’t get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer.”

Gaga then pitched her own law to deal with the “prejudiced, straight soldier who hates the gay soldier.”

“Our new law is called ‘If you don’t like it, go home!’ ” she said to the screaming crowd.

The Grammy-winning Gaga, speaking on the eve of today’s key Senate vote to lift the policy on gays serving openly, stood alongside Air Force, Army and Marine veterans who were discharged because of the policy.

The policy was proposed by former President Bill Clinton and enacted by a Democratic Congress in 1993.

The House already has approved a defense spending bill that repeals the policy. In the Senate, Democrats need 60 votes today to cut off debate and proceed to the bill, again putting Republican Maine senators Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Bay State Republican Sen. Scott Brown in the role of casting what could be deciding votes. A Brown spokesman couldn’t be immediately reached.

Lady Gaga, famous for such hits as “Bad Romance,” “Paparazzi” and “Poker Face,” was escorted at last week’s Video Music Awards ceremony by ex-servicemen who were also discharged or left the military as the result of the policy.
