Maureen Callahan’s “Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga: divulges a number of details about the singer’s life that were not previously known to fans. In the book, her former tour manager, David Ciemny, claimed that while Gaga was on tour she had to be hospitalized six times in 2009 for unhealthy dieting. Gaga reportedly would eat large amounts of unhealthy food, and then would not eat much at all for several weeks so that she could fit into her famous costumes.

He also claims that at one point she lost over 20 pounds between fittings. Apparently, Gaga has been feeling a lot of pressure to lose weight since she first became famous and has not been going about it in the healthiest of ways. Earlier in the year, Gaga said during one interview that in high school she was overweight and was often mocked for her size.

These rumors have been floating around ever since Gaga was forced to cancel two tour dates and appeared to collapse on stage while in New Zealand. It is surprising that if she is that bad that no one close to her has spoken up about it to the media in an attempt to draw attention to it.

Gaga has always blamed her problems on jet lag, always saying that she was just very tired. She even once suggested that she might have lupus, which causes extreme fatigue, but appeared to be joking when she said it.

Just when you thought Lady Gaga had run out of shock and awe tactics, the Grammy winner has taken the rude-nude factor to another level!

Gaga has taken it all off and covered herself in strategically placed raw meat on the cover the latest Japanese edition of Vogue.

Let's just hope that meat didn't end up on the plate of some unsuspecting dinner a few hours later!

News: Lady Gaga Poses As Lady Liberty On Magazine Cover

As evidenced by her recent well-publicized attendance at a Mets game and her glorious Madison Square Garden show, Lady Gaga has always repped for her hometown of New York City. So it's no surprise that Gaga is paying tribute to the Big Apple by posing as the Statue of Liberty alongside fashion guru Marc Jacobs on the fall cover of V Magazine.

Posing with Jacobs, a shopping cart and an old TV set, Gaga stands with her mouth slightly open in a black lace bra and panties with a gray dress sliding off her body. With her toned abs and her hair shaped into a crown, the pop star is holding a burning torch, mimicking the New York landmark. And while Gaga does her best impression of the neoclassical sculpture, Jacobs remains serious and firm, sitting on top of the television in a traditional black-and-white suit. In another photo, the singer is seen crouched in the carriage as she's pushed around by the fashion designer with her torch held high. Just last year, the singer appeared on the fall issue of the magazine donning Jacobs-designed pieces.

In the issue, which is on sale now, V Magazine highlights some of New York's most profound figures, people they say "are making the city their own way."

Editor Stephen Gan revealed that he chose the pop star because her representative values parallel those of the magazine. "Just as the Statue of Liberty was France's gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York's greatest gift to pop culture and fashion," he said in a statement. "She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city's creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city."

Gan declared Gaga "a bonafide genius" and credited her as V Magazine's "muse" of inspiration. "Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who've done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!" he concluded.

But the singer doesn't always leave fashion editors with the best impression. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour spoke about the pop star during her stop at "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday.

"We had Lady Gaga this year," she said of the singer's performance at this year's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala. "She was communing with God and she was praying in the back, waiting for God to tell her it was all right to actually go onstage." Wintour chuckled before revealing that Gaga left the audience waiting for more than 40 minutes.

News: Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour Will Gross Nearly $200 Million

There's a reason Lady Gaga doesn't ever seem to want to wrap up her globe-trotting Monster Ball Tour: It's a moneymaking machine.

Billboard is reporting that, by the time the curtain finally falls on the Ball — which kicked off in November 2009 and is scheduled to run until at least April 2011 — it will have grossed nearly $200 million worldwide.

It's a huge number, to be sure, and it's more proof that Gaga has ascended to the upper echelon of touring acts. In 2009, U2's 360 Tour was the year's top-grossing jaunt, raking in more than $300 million, according to Billboard. Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour was at #2, with receipts of more than $220 million. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band landed at #3, grossing more than $156 million.

In the nearly 10 months it's been on the road, Gaga's Monster Ball has made stops in North America, Europe, the U.K., Asia and Australia. And a spokesperson for Live Nation Entertainment, which produced U2's and Madonna's tours — and also serves as the producer on the Monster Ball — told Billboard that Gaga's tremendous touring success only serves as further proof that she's arrived on the scene and has seized the public's consciousness.

"It's an opportunity," Live Nation global touring chairman Arthur Fogel said. "As an artist with that kind of talent and vision emerges, it creates a lot of excitement, and ticket sales worldwide demonstrate that people are really excited to see the show.

"Over the course of the next many months, we're trying to play to as many people in as many places as possible," he added. "It's an across-the-board home run."

News: Lady Gaga Says Her New Album Is 'Utter Liberation'

Lady Gaga may have caused a stir with her recent talk of sex and drug use, but the singer knows that in the end it all boils down to the music. In the pre-Fall issue of i-D magazine that surfaced online on Friday (August 13), the songstress opens up about what she has planned for her upcoming album.

"The new album is my absolute greatest work I've ever done, and I'm so excited about it," Gaga said of her still-untitled album. "The message, the melodies, the direction, the meaning, what it will mean to my fans and what it will mean to me in my own life — it's utter liberation. I'm on the quest to create the anthem for my generation for the next decade, so that's what I've done."

While the singer has frequently worked with producers like RedOne ("Bad Romance" and "Just Dance"), Gaga plans to keep her sound fresh with a line of new producers on the forthcoming project. But she's keeping them a secret, saying, "I will never tell because as soon as I tell, everyone starts working with them. So all I can say is that nobody knows who they are. They're all new."

And for those who were wondering if the Elton John-esque ballad "You and I" was an indication of the project's sound, Gaga said, "It's not totally indicative of the new album sound; it's just a really big rock-and-roll hit."

The pop star confirmed that the song, which she first performed at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball in June, will appear on the LP. "I do have these hopes that it could be a great rock crossover record, so I'm going to put my producer's hat on and get it to a place where I feel like it could reach the masses," she said. "It's a beautiful, beautiful lyric and melody. I wrote it at the piano I grew up playing in New York."

Despite the success of Gaga's collaborations with Beyoncé, she said she's "not entirely sure" if she'd like to collaborate with anybody this time around. "At this moment, I don't want to feature anyone; I just want to stand on my own two feet," she said.

But if the pop star does change her mind, there's one female rapper who will please her legions of fans: Nicki Minaj. When i-D asked the singer if she could do them a favor and collaborate with the Young Money darling, Gaga was pensive, saying, "OK, I'll think about it."

And as the Lady Gaga train keeps on rolling, the pop star had a rather interesting response as to how she plans to create longevity in her career: "I will always have as much penis as I do vagina. And, no, I'm not going to explain that; it's part of the answer."

News: Nude-Suited Lollapalooza Crowd Surfer

Always keeping things interesting, Lady Gaga was in party mode as she partook in the first day of the 2010 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (August 6).

Held in Grant Park, the "Alejandro" singer surprised her many fans as she stepped out in a see-through bodysuit to go crowd surfing at the BMI stage as Semi-Precious Weapons performed.

As for her night-ending set, Gaga treated the crowd to an energetic show while speaking to the crowd much more than has been usual during her never-ending Monster Ball tour.

Among the highlights, the 24-year-old became quite emotional before a version of “Speechless,” during which she praised her father for being her inspiration - telling a story about how he "kicked off her music career by helping her carry her piano up a long staircase at their New York apartment when she was a kid."

News: Lady GaGa Celebrates Gay Marriage Ruling

Lady GaGa was so overjoyed to hear officials in California have taken a step towards overturning the state's gay marriage ban, she "instantly" began writing new music to celebrate.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in the state in 2008, but the decision was reversed just six months later by the controversial Proposition 8 bill.

On Wednesday, August 4, a top U.S. judge branded the Prop 8 legislation "unconstitutional", paving the way for the ban to be lifted for good.

Lady Gaga, who is an avid supporter of gay rights issues and dedicated her recent hit Alejandro to her loyal homosexual fanbase, admits she was overwhelmed by the news and began working on new songs straight away to mark the occasion.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "At the moments notice (sic) of Prop 8 death I instantly began to write music. Bubble dreams forever! Full equality!

This is just the beginning! Rejoice and celebrate gay communities and straight all over the world. Our voices are being heard! Loud! Scream loud Americanos!"

News: Lady Gaga Wanted By Tea Companies

Lady Gaga is reportedly at the centre of a bidding war from major tea brands keen to get the pop star to represent their blend. Old English firm Twinings is said to be one of the companies interested in the singer.

"Her management have received a load of offers from major tea companies but Twinings are the front-runners,” a source said.

Not only would the 24 year-old be fronting the company's publicity campaign, they are reportedly planning on creating a new blend for her.

"Names like The Taste Of GaGa are being batted about. The idea is to have tasting sessions in which she would participate,” the source told The Sun. "The tasters are coming up with a tea with an oriental flavour. They want to market tea to a new, younger generation - particularly in America - and GaGa is making drinking tea cool again."

News: Gaga lashes out at church protesters

Lady Gaga has lashed out at a group of anti-gay protesters who picketed her concert over the weekend, labelling them "hate criminals".

The protesters, from the Westboro Baptist Church, were stationed outside the pop star's concert in St Louis, Missouri on Saturday night with signs reading "God hates Lady Gaga", US media reports.

Angry at Gaga's outspoken support of gay rights, the protesters denounced Gaga for using her art form to teach "rebellion against God".

Gaga took to Twitter to launch her counter attack, posting several messages to her fans at the concert.

“At the risk of drawing attention to a hateful organisation, I would like to make my little monster fans aware of a protest being held outside the Monsterball in St.Louis tonight," Gaga wrote.

"Although we have had protesters before, as well as fundamentalists at the show, this group of protesters are hate criminals and preach using lude and violent language and imagery that I wish I protect you all from."

Gaga pleaded with her fans to not fight back or allow themselves to be provoked by the protesters.

At the end of the concert, Gaga declared to her fans that love had won out on the night.

"Tonight love and hate met in St. Louis. And love outnumbered the hate, in poetic thousands. Hate left. But love stayed. + Together, we sang," Gaga tweeted.

News: Lady Gaga halts traffic in NY with free performance

Lady Gaga, known for her crazy style, recently brought traffic in her native New York City to a halt with her free performance.

The 'Poker Face' hitmaker performed a free show in the rain, gathering more then 20,000 devotees to watch the star perform, reports the Daily Star.

She took the stage as part of breakfast TV programme 'The Today Show's Summer Concert Series and played a handful of songs, including her hit Bad Romance and new single Alejandro.

The pop star also treated fans to a rendition of standard Someone To Watch Over Me and a new track, titled You and I, during which she writhed around on top of a grand piano in the middle of Rockefeller Center as the skies opened and the rain began falling.

Gaga ended the show by thanking the crowd for waiting hours in the wet weather, telling them, "Thank you for making my dreams come true! Let it rain!"

Lady Gaga’s The Fame this week becomes the best-selling album in the U.S. digital history! With digital sales of over copies 783,000 it surpasses the previous record holder, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida.

The Fame has sold over 3,539,000 copies (digital and physical) in the United States to date. This number includes sales of the deluxe edition of The Fame Monster, but doesn’t count the 8-track EP with additional sales of over 1,170,000 copies.

The tracks on The Fame have sold 24,645,000 digital copies combined, which is an all-time record. The closest runners-up are the Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. with 17,878,000 digital downloads and Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad with 17,041,000.

Lady Gaga has revealed that she would never cheat on a boyfriend because she has a ‘very strong moral code’.

The Poker Face star insists that although on the outside she might seem like a wild woman, she is actually very committed when she is in a relationship.

"As a performer I''m outrageous and wild, but as a person I have a very strong moral code,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Britain''s Mail.

"I would never cheat on a man; I believe in honesty and integrity... Don''t be fooled by the way I look - underneath all this I know exactly who I am and what my boundaries are. They are all important to me," she added.

News: Gaga blamed for eye-endangering contact lens trend

Lady Gaga is recently blamed for partially inspiring a trend of eye-endangering contact lens, according to media reports Wednesday.

The contact lenses can create the "large doe-eyes" as the singer showed in her “Bad Romance" video. They are selling fast on the Internet but illegal in the United States and not FDA approved.

These lenses cover not only the cornea, like a regular contact, but also the surrounding area. Every area they cover is deprived of oxygen.

Users of these lenses can potentially get a serious bacterial infection or lose their eyesight.

"You could develop chronic dry eye, you can develop scars on the cornea, and you can develop visualization of the cornea," Dr. Majid Moshir far from the Moran Eye Center said.

"It may not happen to everyone, but for that person that it does happen to, it’s a very big catastrophe."

Eccentric popstar Lady Gaga has admitted she always maintains her pop persona, even when she is feeling unwell.

The 24-year-old singer, famed for her daring outfits, refuses to let herself give into her feelings of self-doubt because she needs to maintain her pop persona at all times Rolling Stone magazine reported.

"When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today'," Gaga said.

The Bad Romance hitmaker, real name Stefani Germanotta,takes her image so seriously, she wouldn't even let ill-health stop her from dressing up.

"If I were to ever, God forbid, get hurt onstage and my fans were screaming outside of the hospital, waiting for me to come out, I'd come out as Gaga," she said.

Despite her gruelling dance routines, the star also refuses to drink water on stage as she thinks showing signs of weakness such as dehydration would let her fans down.

"I don't even drink water onstage in front of anybody, because I want them to focus on the fantasy of the music," Gaga said.

The singer takes her inspiration from pop legend Michael Jackson, who died of acute Propofol intoxication last June, because of the way he carried on even after his hair caught fire during filming of a Pepsi commercial in 1984.

"Michael got burned, and he lifted that glittered glove so damn high so his fans could see him, because he was in the art of show business," she said.

News: Gaga goes pantless to the Yankees / Mets game

Lady Gaga attended another sporting event and made more headlines. Making a statement as always, Gaga attended the New York Yankees versus the New York Mets baseball game yesterday in nothing but her bra, undies, and a Mariano Rivera jersey. Now I'm for fashion statements, however, at a baseball game? No pants? I'm not diggin' it.

Now just because I don't think it's proper attire for a ballgame does not mean that I don't appreciate Gaga's style ... so keep the hate mail away!

I'm not sure if eating hotdogs in your underwear is sexy, but I'm sure it happened yesterday at Yankee Stadium. Just two weeks ago, Gaga was photographed locking lips with another female at a Mets game. Talk about bringing America's Favorite past time to 2010!

But what's interesting to me, is that if I (or any of you lovely readers) showed up at Yankee Stadium in black lace under garments and a NYY jersey, not only would they not let me in, but I would probably get arrested. So kids? Don't try this at home.

News: Lady Gaga Not Sweating Criticism Over Alejandro

Lady Gaga is not worried about criticism stemming from the recently premiered music video, "Alejandro".

"So many will try to destroy me," Lady Gaga wrote on Twitter after critics blasted the video for its play on religious imagery. "So many, over and over, coming in periods of greatness… but in this period, I cannot be broken."

As previously reported, the video for "Alejandro," is according to Gaga, a celebration of her love and admiration for the gay community.

"It is a celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community, my admiration of their bravery, their love for one another, and their courage in relationships."

"Alejandro" is taken from Lady Gaga's 2009 effort "The Fame Monster".

News: Lady Gaga’s Insensitive Ways!

Lady GaGa has left many of her fans displeased.  On May 28th, Lady Gaga was with her UK ‘Monster Ball’ concert in Birmingham.  It is there she made the sudden declaration about her forthcoming ‘Alejandro’ music video coming in “three days” time (Monday, May 31st).  She could not keep her pledge and later apologized.  According to one fan at toyaz-world, “However, as an artist (Lady Gaga) who is still relatively new to the scene, she needs to learn not to toot her own horn so soon.”

On 2nd June, Lady Gaga was on stage in Manchester.  She angered even her die-hard fans by acting to be murdered and eaten on stage by a psycho killer during her Manchester show.  This was just hours after a series of serial killings rocked the region.

The scene by Lady Gaga came just hours after cab driver Derrick Bird, 52, killed 12 in a gun rampage in Cumbria.   And the dismay of the three prostitute homicides in nearby Bradford was still unmarked in the minds of many:  Investigating agencies have charged 40-year-old ‘Crossbow Cannibal’ suspect Stephen Griffiths.
According to Lynn Costello of the organization Mothers against Violence, “It was extremely tasteless to see her pretend to be attacked in such a gory way given all the violence which happened in Cumbria just hours earlier:  It was insensitive.”

The opinion was that the scene may have been part of Lady Gaga’s show, but it could have been moderated down given the recent violent events of Bradford and Cumbria.
