News: Lady Gaga receives four music awards in the German capital

When Andrew Lloyd Webber comes to hold auditions for his West End production of the Wizard of Oz, he may not need to bother for one particular role.

Because from the looks of these pictures, Lady Gaga has the part of the Wicked Witch of the West in the bag, even if it's just for the outfit alone.

The singer appeared to have taken inspiration from the evil character as she received some awards in Berlin yesterday.

Minus the tall, pointy hat - and the crooked nose and green face, of course - the singer showed off an outfit that any witch would be proud of as she collected four platinum gongs for her album The Fame Monster.

In a long black crepe dress and with a black veil covering her face, Gaga, 24, also ditched the brassy blonde locks she has shown off in recent weeks.

And the grey tinge on her more natural-looking hair colour was either a fashion statement, or the strains of performing all over the world are affecting more than just her voice, after a wobbly performance on American Idol last week.

aga was at a photocall at the O2 World Arena in the German capital where she was also awarded three Echo Awards that she missed out on in March as she was unable to attend.

She was given the accolades for Best International Female Artist, Best Single Of The Year for her single Poker Face and Best International Newcomer.

And while her outfit was true to form for the headline-grabbing star, she may want to rethink her wardrobe for the next awards ceremony she attends, the ability to walk in it probably being her top priority.

Gaga had to be helped on to the stage by a member of the crew as she struggled to walk in her platform shoes, which didn't have any heels.

She was also assisted on the stage as she grabbed tightly on to the ceremony's host, but managed to stay on her tiptoes as she collected her ECHOs, a German music award given every year by The German Phonographic Academy.

Gaga will perform in Berlin tonight as part of the European leg of her Monster Ball tour, the second stop in Germany having already played Hamburg last night.

She then has a three-day break before heading to the Netherlands before travelling to Belgium and France and then bringing the tour to the UK on May 27.
